Weimaraner is many centuries old dog breed. It is a descendant of Bloodhound and German hunting breed. Weimaraner is excellent pointer and outstanding hunting dog. The origin of this great hunting dog is Germany. In olden times it has been used as a big game hunter for deer, wolves and bear, today it is used as a birddog and a water retriever as well. In a van Dyck painting from early 1600s a Weimaraner has appeared. In 1929 Howard Knight imported the dogs in U.S and also founded American Weimaraner breed club first time in USA. Sesame Street the famous T.V show for children has been well-known to plays skits with this breed dressed up in human clothes. American Kennel Club recognized Weimaraner breed 1943. The talent of this Weimaraner is tracking, hunting, pointing, retrieving, watchdog, police work, guarding, service for disabled, agility and search and rescue.
