Dalmatian

Dalmatian is a powerful, large, well-muscled dog with brilliant patience and stamina. The Dalmatian is known for its exclusive dark- or brown-spotted coat. There is no conformity of the origin of the breed Dalmatian. Some said that spotted dogs were found always in Asia, Europe and Africa throughout the history of the world. Dalmatian dog breed may have relation with the Pointer dogs. Some evidence shows that the spotted dogs were in Egypt and found Egyptian bas reliefs and Hellenic Friezes; no doubt that this is an ancient dog breed and it is since 1700s. A dog resembled to the Dalmatian dogs was there in England and known as Bengal Pointer in 1700s. Some said origin of the Dalmatian is Yugoslavia but it is still questionable. Some said that this breed root to the Croatia. It is recognition as a Croatian breed has been denied, until 1993, when FCI did finally accepted the Croatian Origin of the Dalmatian Dog, although they persist to reject Croatia standard backing rights over the breed. He is nicknamed by the English, the English Coach Dog, the Carriage Dog, the Plum Pudding Dog, the Fire House Dog, and the Spotted Dick.
